Body Weight – The Foundation of Your Health and Wellness
The terms “overweight” and “obese” are mentioned frequently these days. We hear and see more and more discussion or advice surrounding both of those terms. It can be frustrating and discouraging.

A person is overweight if they have extra body weight compared to what is medically recommended for their height, gender and age. The extra weight could be in the form of fat, muscle, their bone structure and/or water. Obese refers more specifically to an unhealthy body weight due to too much body fat.

The most useful measure of overweight and obesity is the body mass index, or BMI. It is a measurement of your height, weight and gender and is used for adults, children and teens.

Body Weight is a Key Indicator of Your Health
Being overweight or obese puts you at risk for many diseases and conditions. The more body fat  you have the more likely you are to develop:

  • Coronary Artery Disease
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Elevated Cholesterol
  • Sleep Apnea

Your weight results from many factors; environment, family history, genetics, metabolism,  behaviors and habits. You can't change most of those, but you can change your behavior and lifestyle habits.

Following a healthy eating plan, doing regular physical activity and limiting your time of inactivity are important. Surgery can also be an option for some people.
There is Hope, You Have Some Options

Our Surgical Weight Loss Program:

The Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass

Often the surgical approach is best for those with BMI of 40 or more, or a BMI of 35 to 39 with health problems related to the excess weight.

Contact the Center’s Coordinator, Eileen Williams, RN, to discuss whether you might qualify for this procedure and for assistance in understanding how to qualify for coverage under your insurance plan.

We have special pricing and payment options for those whose insurance coverage does not include gastric by-pass surgery.

Body Contouring After Major Weight Loss

Surgical body contouring after major weight loss improves the shape and tone of your underlying tissue and removes excess sagging fat and skin. The result is a more normal appearance with smoother body contours. This is the final phase of your total weight loss experience.

We have a special pricing and payment option for those whose insurance coverage does not include body contouring.
