Phase 1 of new Surgery Center opening April 30

The first phase of Johnson Memorial Hospital’s $14 million renovation and expansion of its Surgery Center opens Monday, April 30. When it does, the hospital will be introducing a new entrance on the south side of the hospital for those patients.

Beginning Monday, April 30, patients coming to JMH for surgery procedures, heart catheterization lab services, chronic pain treatments and outpatient endoscopy procedures will enter the hospital through the new Surgery Center entrance on Hospital Road.

On May 8th, OB/GYN patients of Johnson County Women’s Care Group will begin using the Surgery Center entrance. The physicians of Johnson County Women’s Care Group will be moving into new offices in Suite S 200 of the new 1125 S Building. Currently the group is located on the second floor of the hospital’s 1155 Professional Office Building.
To reach the Center from the west, patients and visitors should enter JMH from Tracy Miles Road and follow the signs to the new entrance. From the east, patients and visitors should turn south on Drake Rd. at Jefferson St., continue to Hospital Rd. and turn right (west) and enter using the new entrance in front of the Surgery Center. This entrance will not be accessible for eastbound traffic on Hospital Rd.

Phase 2 of the construction project has already begun with final completion of the project scheduled for mid-September. When finished the hospital will have two new operating rooms and will renovate two others, making available the latest in design and technology for modern-day surgical facilities. There will be a new post anesthesia recovery facility, private pre- and post-operative rooms for all patients, a new endoscopy suite and private waiting rooms.
