About Bariatric Surgery

Resolving morbid obesity through surgical intervention is not a decision to be entered into lightly, nor with the expectations that instant results will occur. It will require your strong personal commitment and the support of a highly trained staff of specialists at the Bariatric Care Center. Working with our staff, however, you can accomplish a significant improvement in your health, your life style and your overall approach to life.

The results we’ve seen from our program and others are clear; long-term weight control and health improvement can be achieved through Bariatric surgery for morbid obesity.

The Bariatric Care Center at Johnson Memorial Hospital has developed a number of program features that we think distinguishes our services from others:

  • Comprehensive screening, evaluation and consultation with each and every candidate for Bariatric services. This process is managed by the Bariatric Care Center coordinator, who provides every candidate a program orientation.

  • Individual pre-operative nutrition and medical consultations. These will involve nurses, registered clinical dietitians and a board-certified surgeon who is a fellow of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery.

  • All pre-operative services are conveniently located at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Indiana.

  • Each patient is given a schedule of medical follow-ups that is precisely tailored to their needs and their treatment plan.

  • Monthly support groups in multiple locations are provided as part of the pre- and post-operative care plan. This gives candidates an opportunity to interact with past Bariatric Care Center patients and learn from their experiences.

  • A program coordinator, who herself is a former bariatric patient, works with each patient to personally supervise their plan of care and treatment.
