Pre-procedure Planning

There are a few steps to go through to make your decision about bariatric surgery.

  1. Contact the JMH Bariatric Care Center toll free at 866-837-0531 and begin the evaluation process with a consultation with our center coordinator.

  2. Attend one of our monthly education seminars.

  3. Verify the financial commitment it will require, confirm your insurance coverage and out-of-pocket payment options and assist with the other requirements for your surgery pre-approval.

  4. Complete your research and make sure you thoroughly understand the surgery.

  5. Begin making some of the lifestyle and diet changes that will be necessary after the surgery to make sure you can manage the commitment this step will require.

  6. Undergo a pre-operative evaluation to determine your medical, psychologic and nutritional suitability for the procedure.

Once you've successfully completed those steps you're ready to meet with the physician, conduct the final pre-surgery evaluation and if the evaluation goes well, schedule your procedure.
