Cost should not be a barrier to your healthcare

Johnson Memorial Hospital is committed to providing quality healthcare that is affordable and accessible to all, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.

We offer financial assistance to ensure that cost will not be a barrier to access to healthcare in our community. We also help our patients apply for assistance programs offered by the state of Indiana.

It is important to us that you continue to receive any medical services you may need. So, when payment of healthcare expenses creates a financial hardship for you, please call our Patient Financial Services so we can help you apply for financial assistance.

If you or a family member is requesting a reduction of your bills from Johnson Memorial Hospital, we will assess your need for assistance based on your current financial status. Please note that financial assistance is not available for non-essential services such as cosmetic surgery, convenience items or services that are offered at a package rate, and those that are not medically necessary.

We cannot guarantee that your financial status will justify a reduction on balances owed, but we will make every effort to assist you in trying to resolve your accounts.

In order to speed your request, you will need to provide us with some necessary documents.

Johnson Memorial offers financial assistance based on income and other guidelines. In applying for financial assistance, our staff will assess your eligibility for federal or state programs as well. If you are eligible for one of these programs, we will assist you in the application process.

Johnson Memorial grants assistance to those who qualify based on certain criteria applied against the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Once assistance is awarded, the benefit is available to you and your immediate family for one year. You will receive a card, similar to an insurance card, that identifies that you are entitled to the Johnson Memorial Hospital Financial Assurance Program. This card should be treated the same as an insurance card and presented each time you receive services at Johnson Memorial.

To receive continued assistance, the application will need to be refiled annually. If you have any questions, please call us at 317.738.7880 and one of our associates will assist you.
