Franciscan Health, Johnson Memorial Health, Cancer Care Group Form Partnership

INDIANAPOLIS – A cancer diagnosis and navigating treatment can be a daunting challenge, but a new partnership will go a long way to ease the process and concerns of patients.

Franciscan Health, Johnson Memorial Health and the Cancer Care Group have forged a joint venture to provide radiation oncology services at Johnson’s medical center and Franciscan facilities in Indianapolis and Mooresville.

“This integrated approach will provide convenient and high-quality care for the patients we are privileged to serve,” said James Callaghan, MD, president and CEO for Franciscan Health Central Indiana. “By working together with Johnson Memorial and Cancer Care Group, we can make an even greater positive impact so that patients and their families can focus on treatment and recovery.”

“The relationship harnesses our hospitals’ collective expertise,” said David Dunkle, MD, president and CEO of Johnson Memorial. “Further, it enables our hospital to continue pushing the frontiers of cancer care for our Johnson County community and beyond.”

“Collaboration is paramount when treating patients, particularly those with complex conditions,” said radiation oncologist Peter Garrett, MD, a member of Cancer Care Group and medical director of Franciscan Health Cancer Center. “Our organizations’ collective expertise will lead to more positive outcomes.”

Cancer cells multiply faster than normal cells in the body. Radiation therapy effectively targets cancer cells using high-energy linear accelerators. This partnership brings to our patients and our community the most advanced linear accelerator technology and cancer care.
