David Ensley, MD Joins JMH Women's Health Team

Dr. David Ensley, MD, FACOG has joined the Johnson Memorial Health Women's Health team.

With more than two decades of experience as an obstetrician and gynecologist, he previously was in private practice on the south side of Indianapolis. He has delivered nearly 3,000 babies and performed more than 1,000 outpatient surgeries.

"We are very pleased to have a provider with Dr. Ensley's experience and expertise serving our patients at JMH," said Dr. David Dunkle, JMH President/CEO. "He is extraordinarily patient-focused and dedicated."

Dr. Ensley said closing his private practice was a difficult decision, but JMH was the best place for him and his patients and to continue providing quality care.

"I believe that the team at JMH Women’s Health shares my commitment, making them the ideal partners as we embark on this new journey," Dr. Ensley said.

He also said he was excited to join an outstanding Women's Health team that includes Dr. John Norris, Dr. Emily Cline, Dr. Carrie Smith, Dr. Heather Andrews, Nurse Practitioner Mandi Harmon and Midwife Diana Haymond.

Dr. Ensley is accepting new patients experiencing pregnancy or a gynecological health issue. His educational background and extensive experience enable him to treat women of all ages. 

Dr. Ensley said he found his true calling during his medical school rotations. He had a passion for science and problem-solving, leading him to pursue biochemistry in his undergraduate years at Indiana University Bloomington. His admiration for the intricate chemical processes within the human body pushed him towards applying to Indiana University School of Medicine, where he quickly discovered his love for patient interaction during his clinical rotations.

Although Dr. Ensley explored various medical specialties, it was his experience during his OB/GYN rotation that ultimately cemented his career path.

In his leisure time, Dr. Ensley enjoys spending time with his wife Patti, his college-aged twin boys Nathan and Noah, and two adorable long-haired miniature dachshunds. He enjoys traveling, reading about history and participating in family activities.
